Contents
Per 500 mL Dextrose monohydrate (equiv to dextrose anhydrate) 25 g, NaCl 1.125 g, Na 38.5 mEq/L, Cl 38.5 mEq/L. Osmolarity: 355 mOsm/L
Indications/Uses
Fluid & caloric replacement.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IV Individualized dosage according to age, body wt & clinical conditions.
Contraindications
Glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, diabetic coma.
Special Precautions
May cause hyperglycemia & glycosuria. Thrombosis.
Adverse Reactions
Febrile response, infection at inj site, necrotic tissue, venous thrombosis or phlebitis extending from the inj site. Hypernatremia.
Drug Interactions
Parenteral soln especially those containing Na ions in patients receiving corticosteroid or corticotropin. May cause vit B complex deficiency. Concomitant use w/ blood transfusion may cause erythrocyte pseudoagglutination.
